This partnership project is with Govanhill Baths Community Action Programme, Unity Sisters and Milk Café. It aimed to create a unique model of community peer advocacy, replicable within the Scottish refugee communities. We thought the project was great because it increased Unity Sisters’ capacity and helped the sisters to learn more about their rights. In this blog post, you can read more about this project and view various resources we produced with Milk Café and Govanhill Baths Community Trust.
Above is a poster produced as a summary of the peer-led evaluation of the Our Rights, Our Communities project under the Glasgow Centre for Population Health mentorship.
This animation [English language] of the same summary was produced by those involved in the peer research. You can view the spirit without a voiceover here and in different languages by following the following links: Kinyarwanda, Urdu, Spanish, French, and Arabic.
We have also produced a new short film about our experiences of participating in peer research. This film, “IT WILL START WITH ME”, was shown to decision-makers, funders, and supporters in April 2023, and it will have its Scottish premiere at the Govanhill International Festival in August 2023.
